Currently there is no cost for the first year for NEW members to join the BCRTA, Vancouver branch and R R Smith Foundation, as fees are waived for new members for one year. Contact the BCRTA for more details: www.bcrta.ca
The membership of the VRTA is approximately 1500 members. BCRTA Life membership is given for those over the age of 90. We (VRTA) honour our members over the age of 85, living in Vancouver, by delivering a poinsettia at the holiday season. Our current dues are $12 a year for the branch dues. Membership fees for the BCRTA are $40 yearly (until July 1, 2020) and for the R. R. Smith Memorial Fund Foundation $2 (optional to join).
NOTE: The R. R. Smith Memorial Fund Foundation is a charitable organization which provides scholarships and bursaries as well as makes grants to Canadian registered charitable organizations for literacy, both in BC and overseas. The R R Smith Bursaries in Education are awarded annually to students training to be teachers at the following universities-UBC, the University of Victoria, Simon Fraser University, the University of Northern BC, Thompson Rivers University and Vancouver Island University.
